How out is out in Amman?


Here are the different stages most people I know are in, ordered from least out to most out.

Mode 1:
1. Out to a girlfriend who identifies as straight.
2. Out to girlfriend who identifies as bi.
3. Out to a girlfriend who identifies as confused.
4. Out to a girlfriend who identifies as lesbian/gay.

Mode 2:
1. Out to the girlfriend’s lesbian/gay friends.
2. Out to the girlfriend’s nice straight friends.

Mode 3:
1. Out amongst lesbian community.
2. Out to the larger gay community.

Mode 4:
1. Out to some relatives.
2. Out socially to gay/straight people.
3. Out to come colleagues at work.
4. Out to boss.

Mode 5:
1. Out to siblings.
2. Out to one or two parents [Disclaimer: RARELY SEEN!!]

    If these modes are meant to annotate the stages in which an Ammani lesbo comes out, starting with Mode 1 and ending with Mode 5, then I must have come out of the closet through its backdoor. Shit.

    • Calm down! All are from my own observations, I am not the last word when it comes to being gay in Amman ;-) so if that was your case; big big salute from me :-D

    i am out to one of my parents, and two of my brothers.. not by choice tho.. and out to several of my straight friends,who sadely, were more kind to me than lesbians! go figure!
    as for the community.. well, once ur out there, u become the communiy’s public property.. eeeeverybody starts mentioning you..not even realizing the gravity of their actions of using real name and info..
